Oba’s take

Kelley has two things working for it that don't show up in rankings. First, the July 1 deadline is the latest of any major deferred program, by a significant margin. If you're putting together a full school list and need runway after the April cluster, that matters. Second, Kelley's Investment Banking Workshop is one of the most intensive IB prep programs at any U.S. business school. If IB is your direction, that's a meaningful placement differentiator. Essay 1 asks for your primary goals and an explicit backup plan, and that question is deliberate. Don't treat the alternate path as filler. If your first choice doesn't pan out, what do you actually do? Give a real answer. The personal essay (choose one of four prompts) catches people off guard. Don't pick the one that sounds most impressive — pick the one that produces the most specific and unexpected story about who you are. Essay 3 is 25 words. Treat it as one thing your classmates won't figure out from the rest of your application. One important note: this program is only open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.
